‘V’ has been cancelled.

Friday the 13th was a bad day for the Visitors, and unsurprisingly, sophomore drama V has been cancelled by ABC.

After premiering to strong ratings in the Fall of 2009 its ratings declined during the Fall, and fell substantially in the Spring after a mid-season hiatus.

Returning in January 2011, the show’s ratings stayed in the 1.7-2.1 adults 18-49 ratings range, neither trending decisively up or down.

ABC also canceled Brothers & Sisters. Based on ratings this also shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone, but some people (:coughROBERTcough:) were caught up in the way there’s smoke about another season there is fire. Apparently the actors and producers weren’t into a shortened season on a reduced budget.

I LOVED Morena’s Anna – she played that role brilliantly. Anna was my favorite character on the show, and I will truly miss seeing her in new episodes… but I can’t say I’m surprised about the cancellation, and I’m also kind of relieved. The series was full of potential but rarely, if ever, delivered on its grand promises. Which is crying a pity because the acting was top notch – too bad the writers couldn’t deliver matching materials Goodbye, Anna!

Morena will guest-star in an upcoming episode of The Mentalist. The episode will air in early April.

Morena Baccarin will take a break from plotting the downfall of humanity on ABC’s V to take a guest-starring role on an upcoming episode of CBS’ The Mentalist, EW has learned exclusively. Baccarin will play Erica Flynn, described as an “attractive and sexy woman who seems as warm-hearted, sincere, and intelligent as she is lovely.” Baccarin’s character runs a matchmaking business, and may have some dark secrets. Expect attractive-person sparks to fly between Erica and Simon Baker’s Patrick Jane when the episode airs in early April.
