Morena Baccarin will guest-star in episode 17 of The Good Wife, slated to air in early March. According to the show’s creators, “She’ll be playing the executive-event planner at a large corporation who accuses our old friend Colin Sweeney — the deliciously creepy Dylan Baker — of sexual harassment.”
Morena will guest-star in the February 16th episode of The Mentalist.
The Feb. 16 episode of The Mentalist will find Patrick Jane once again coming face to face with matchmaker (and troublemaker) Morena Baccarin, who co-stars on Showtime’s Homeland. And when he does, Simon Baker tells me that we’ll get a chance to see an interesting, rarely-seen side of Jane. “I really like the human side of [Patrick Jane] and the human trauma and drama of it all,” he says. “We often get very frivolous and use the cheap gag/crime of the week stuff. But there’s an element to this character that’s very human. He’s also a very lonely character. We don’t really explore that very often, but it underpins him. It was interesting to bring her back because in the episode we did, there was a chemistry between the two characters. They were both deceptive characters and they enjoyed that in each other. And so to bring her back, there’s a bit more friction between the two of them that could potentially open things up for the Jane character.”
Homeland has officially been picked up for a second season by Showtime.
The cable network has ordered an additional 12 episodes of the drama series, which stars Damian Lewis and Claire Danes.
Danes plays Carrie Mathison, a CIA officer who becomes convinced that former prisoner of war Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) has been turned by terrorists.
“Homeland is just getting started,” said Showtime’s president of entertainment David Nevins. “Clearly, the overall audience growth from week one to week four demonstrates that this show is hitting a nerve in the cultural zeitgeist.”
He continued: “[Series co-creators] Alex [Gansa] and Howard [Gordon] have created a psychological thriller that holds special relevance in the post 9/11 world. I’m quite confident that its passionate audience will be riveted as the season unfolds and people discover where this story is going.”
Homeland – which also stars Mandy Patinkin and Morena Baccarin – debuted with 1.08m viewers and viewership has continued to rise, with the most recent fourth episode pulling in 1.1m.
Production on season two will commence in spring 2012. Earlier this week, Nevins indicated that the series would be renewed, suggesting that there was not “much suspense” over its future.
Homeland continues on Sundays at 10/9c on Showtime and will be broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK.
Showtime had a few tricks up its sleeve at its panel sessions during San Diego Comic-Con. It announced that the sixth season of Dexter and the series premiere of Homeland will air back to back on Sunday, October 2 at 9 p.m.
The Dexter panel included EP and star Michael C. Hall, his co-stars C.S. Lee, David Zayas, guest star Colin Hanks and a surprise late appearance by next season’s guest star, Mos. The show’s executive producers Sara Colleton and Scott Buck also appeared with the cast.
We were pretty disappointed that Homeland’s leads, Claire Danes and Damian Lewis weren’t on hand for the panel. EP Howard Gordon and newly cast Morena Baccarin (V, Firefly) did attend. Baccarin plays Scott Brody’s (Lewis) wife, Jessica.
The series follows Carrie Mathison (Danes), a CIA officer, who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of Sgt. Nick Brody, a U.S. soldier who had been missing for nine years, was set up and may be connected to an al-Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil.
“You’re not only dealing with a woman who has dealt with the loss of her husband, but after nine years she then gets him back and he’s totally different,” Baccarin says of her role. “There’s so many rich moments in that.”
The network also surprised the panel’s audience with two new sneak peeks of the series. Watch them below.

Morena has been cast in the new Showtime drama series Homeland:
Morena Baccarin (V, Firefly) has joined the cast of Showtime’s new drama series HOMELAND. She will star opposite Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin.
The series centers on Sgt. Nick Brody (Lewis), an American soldier, who is taken prisoner during the Iraq invasion in 2003. Baccarin plays the role of Jessica Brody, Nick’s intrepid and complicated wife. Left for dead, Nick miraculously returns to the U.S. after years in captivity. Carrie Anderson (Danes), a driven CIA officer battling her own psychological demons, becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to Nick’s rescue was a setup and that this national hero may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. Mandy Patinkin plays Saul, a veteran CIA Division Chief who is Carrie’s boss and mentor.
The series is produced by Fox 21, and is written by Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa and Gideon Raff. Gordon and Gansa (24) also serve as executive producers. Beginning production this month, Homeland is slated to premiere in the fall on Showtime.
Have you seen the trailer? I think the cast sounds great; but this show could either be the most depressing and unnerving of the season, or a thrilling psychological mind game. What are your initial opinions of Homeland?
